Life Purpose Work

Comments from Life Purpose Coaching Participants

When I first started the Life Purpose Program with Dr. Earley I had some preconceived notions as to what my life purpose was, and I was really looking for a little more clarity and an affirmation of those ideas.  Once I became involved in the process, I came to realize that my true life purpose. Through the step-by-step program, through creative visualization and discussions, we came up with something much more specific that rang true for me on a very deep level.  The conscious part of me was actually surprised at how intent and firm my belief was about my life purpose.  I was speaking from my core, and there was a conscious part of me looking on and saying “Wow!”  It was time for me to claim certain abilities, time for me to quit “hiding my light under a bushel.”  I had some wonderful affirmations, and I knew deep down that pursuing these ideas and feelings would bring me a tremendous amount of satisfaction. I found the whole process very enlightening. I also worked with Dr. Earley to examine my preconceived notions, fears, and doubts. I explored why I had been fighting my purpose and why I hadn’t claimed my abilities.  It was a wonderful, uplifting and liberating experience.

I'm so pleased with how effectively Jay took me through the process of finding my own life purpose.  Before we met, I worried that Jay would guide me toward a monastery or the Moonies, but instead I found him to be an interested, supportive, understanding, and totally non-judgmental moderator and guide. Jay has no preconceptions about what your life path should be. He cares more about the process of helping you find it on your own. He's developed a syllabus that comfortably and steadily guides you through examining each aspect of your own wants and needs and then allows you to synthesize what you learn. The process is sometimes wonderful, sometimes scary, and always challenging. The reward - the sense of direction I've discovered - is totally worth it. Jay has helped me go from general angst or apathy about my future to feeling like every choice I make is directed toward a goal or following an ideal. I can comfortably make life decisions with a larger perspective in mind and, for the first time, I know where I want my life to go.

I found Jay Earley through searching on the internet for a coach. I thought I was looking for someone to help me figure out what my next job/career should be, but I soon realized  I needed something much, much bigger--to discover my life purpose. When I saw Jay's credentials as a psychologist and someone personally involved in transformational psychology, I figured he could help me at the level I was seeking. A pep talk and motivation to meet goals was the last thing I needed, as it turned out.  Jay recognized this instantly. He worked with me patiently and thoroughly, helping me recognize and break through many deep-rooted habits of thinking and feeling (or not feeling).  He was able to take me to an entirely new land--one not governed by continuous striving, optimizing time, making things happen, being "successful"-- a land where I got glimpse of fully being. I now recognize that this was the crucial  starting point for discovering my life purpose--a quest that is now becoming clearer week by week.

It's been at least 2 years, probably 3 since we had our sessions . . . but I must tell you what happened . . .it took about a year, but I was processing our sessions and decided last year to go back to school and get a master's in Political Science with the hope of teaching at the JC level.  I am in my second semester and am getting to TA Poli Sci 200.  I am having such a good time in school, I can hardly stand it. I realized what I got out of our time together was that it rekindled my love of the subject and intellectual pursuit of political science and theory.
